Ellis Ray (Curley) Myers, 90, of Providence, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at his home.  
He is survived by one daughter, Francoise Lincoln of Providence; one son, Earl Myers of Providence; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Providence with Bro. Terry Cope officiating.   
Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Providence.
Burial was in Rowland Cemetery in Flatrock.
Vanover Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lark Joel “L.J.” Northern


Lark Joel “L.J.” Northern
Lark Joel “L.J.” Northern, 89, of Russellville, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014.
He was born in Providence on Sept. 2, 1924 to the late Larkin Joel, Sr. and Faye Watson Northern. Mr. Northern was a Conservatist for the Logan County Conservation Districts for decades where he led the construction of 23 watershed lakes in four counties, including Lake Malone and Lake Herndon. He was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts and was one of the people most responsible for the Wildcat Hollow Boy Scout Camp in Logan County. After retirement L.J. worked with his son, Keith at Northern Nursery for 15 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Russellville, a Mason and was a member of the Russellville Rotary Club. He was a World War II Army Veteran.  
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Roberta Farris Northern; one son, Keith Northern and his wife Karen of Russellville; one daughter Nelda Marren of St. Charles, MO; one brother, Paul Gordon Northern of Providence; six grandchildren, Jenny Northern, Libby Northern, Sam Northern, Patrick Wellborn, Catherine Wellborn and Allison Wellborn.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Tom Thompson officiating.   
Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Guion, Sam Northern, Patrick Wellcorn, Alan Scott, Michael Paul Northern and Bill Fliss.                      paid

Jack G. Driesbach, 51, of Slaughters, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014.  
He is survived by his mother, Blanche (Rakestraw) Driesbach of Slaughters; one daughter, Tabatha Adams of Dawson Springs; one son, Anthony Driesbach of Robards; two step-children, Nikki Marsh of Dixon and Joshua Glover of Onton; one brother, Lloyd (Skeeter) Driesbach of Tilden; two sisters, Janet Driesbach of Slaughters and JoAnn Newton of Evansville, IN; lifelong caregivers and companions, Francis Driesbach and April Biggs; nine grandchildren with two more on the way; 10 nieces and nephews; several cousins.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel with Bro. Harry Baldwin officiating.   
Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Slaughters.

Linda Kay Roberts, 69, of Clay, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson.  
She is survived by one daughter, Jolinda Shoulders of Madisonville; one son, Adam Roberts of Evansville, IN; five grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clay with Bro. Michael Sweeney officiating.

Lina Marie Flick, 37, gained her angel wings on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.
Lina was born in Florida and lived in Clewiston until 1992. She then moved to Dixon and lived there until October of 2013 when her dream of moving to New Mexico came true.  
She leaves behind her parents, Benny and Karen Flick; uncles, Robert Rosier of Lakeland, FL, Bill and Linda Bates of Beulah, Robert (Pete) Bates of Marion, Boyd Bates and Larry Joe Flick both of Fredonia; aunts, Dora Lee Coones of Dalton, Brenda Sigler and Leda Martin both of Fredonia; great-aunt, Merle Platt Person of LaBelle, FL; numerous cousins. Lina did not have brothers and sisters but she had some very special cousins and friends that became her brothers and sisters, Tara Platt Smith, Cathy Flick Dockery, Anthony Coones and Tayna Doran. 
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at FRENCH-Westside in Albuquerque, NM.   
Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.

Ford Melton Canton, 63, of Diamond, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.  
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Caton; two daughters, Mary Ann Sneed of Morganfield and Susie Caton of Evansville, IN; four sons, Danny Guffey of Morganfield, Roy Caton of Hopkinsville, Douglas Guffey of Providence and David Guffey of Evansville, IN; one brother, Jack Caton of Henderson; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with the Rev. Thornton Stanley officiating.   
Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

James Lee “Jim” Alvey, 77, of Cairo, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.  
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Robert Alvey; two sons, Michael Alvey of Poole and Brian Alvey of Cairo; two daughters, Lisa Alvey Buckman of Cairo and Susan Alvey McLevain of Niagara; one sister, Sharon Alvey Thompson of Henderson; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Larry McBride officiating.   
Entombment was in  St. Louis Cemetery Mausoleum.

He is survived by his companion for 12 years, Shannon Carl; his mother, Carolyn Hamby of Owensboro; two sons, Brian Hamby of Utica and Mark L. Hamby of Henderson; one sister, Pamela Legate of Owensboro; five grandchildren.

Carl Y. Hubbard, Jr. , 72, of Henderson, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014.  
He is survived by one daughter, Lauren Brutscher of Louisville; one son, Neal Cantley of Dixon; one sister, Nancy Gerometta of Chesterton, IN; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Brenda L. Collins, 73, of Sturgis, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville, IN. 
She was employed at Walmart in Morganfield where she was a cashier.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Wilma Barlow, husband, Jimmie Collins and sister, Elizabeth Bridget Wray. 
She is survived by two daughters, Ginger Johnson and her husband, Benny of Sturgis and Jerrell Rich and her husband, Brodie of Clay; one brother, Joseph Barlow, Jr. of Troy, IL; one sister-in-law, Janice Harris of Madisonville; four grandchildren, Aaron and Austin Johnson and Seth and Ashlee Rich; nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with the Rev. Victor Hassell officiating.   
Burial was in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wayne Wood; two daughters, Kathy Vaughn of Newburgh, IN and Amy Newman of Poole; one son, David Wood of Sebree; one brother, Jim Ashby of Robards; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 in Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with Dr. Dean Esarey officiating.   
Burial was in  Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.

He is survived by one daughter, Devon Brown; three sons, Robert Whitsell, Chad Whitsell and Robert Logan Whitsell all of Madisonville; one sister, Jackie Whitsell of Evansville, IN; three brothers, Danny Whitsell, Norris Whitsell and Bobby Whitsell all of Madisonville; three step-sons, Karl Byers, Cody Wright and Biker Cox; five grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at Jones and Erdman Funeral Home in Providence.   
Burial will be in  Lakeview Cemetery in Providence.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Naomi Carson, her husband, David E. Wood, brother, Thomas Eugene Melton and Randolph Carson.
She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Providence. 
She is survived by two sons, David R. Wood and his wife, Linda of Henderson and Jack D. Wood of Greenville; two daughters, Robin E. Gibson and her husband, Mack of Providence and Beth Lockhart of Providence; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Melton Funeral Home in Providence with Bro. Josh Bumpus officiating.  
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Clay.

She is survived by three daughters, Tracey McVay, “Penny” Sandra Johnson and Jannifer McVay; one brother, Tom Oldham; six sisters, Margie Hearrin, Ann House, Mary Jones, Fonda Oldham, Brenda Virgin and Debbie Rushing; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 in the chapel of Jones and Erdman Funeral Home in Providence.

Adam Copeland, 31, of Beulah, ND, formerly of Clay, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at his home. 
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Holloway Copeland; his mother, Paulette Vedral of Princeton; one son, Ryder Copeland at home; one daughter, Carlie Copeland at home; three brothers, James Paul Vedral and Steven Michael Vedral both of Alexandria, MN, Patrick John Copeland of Kokomo, IN; two sisters, Jill Marie Copeland of Clay and Laura Beatrice Copeland of Evansville, IN. 
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.    
Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Robert Wayne Dutton, 73, of Clay, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson.
He was a U.S. Marine. He was a coal miner and worked at Island Creek Coal and retired from Consolidated Coal. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local #1605 and the American Legion. He was a member of Lone Star Pentecostal Church in Madisonville.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Francis, his father, William Andon and one brother, Guy Dutton.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Dutton; two sons, DeWayne Mark Allen Dutton and Brian Thomas Dutton both of Clay; three sisters, Marilyn Marks and Ann Lee Hendricks both of Madisonville and Sara Harper and her husband, Jerry of Slaughters; two grandchildren, Bethany Ashton Dutton and Brock Andon Dutton both of Clay; several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay with Shelly Hendricks officiating.  
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clay, where military rites were performed.                paid

Tip Hearrin, Jr., 83, of Providence, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at his home.
He was a member of Providence General Baptist Church and the United Mine Workers of America. 
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hearrin; three daughters, Sandra Jones of Providence, Teresa Hearrin of Madisonville, and Elizabeth McKeehan Parish of Manitou; one son, Jonathan Hearrin of Crandell, IN; two brothers, Everett Hearrin and Billy Hearrin of Providence; one sister, Portia  Jones of Providence; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Providence General Baptist Church with the Bro. Barry Cullen and Dianne Oakley officiating.  
Burial was in White Oak Cemetery in Clay.

Terry Wayne Wilson, 49, of Providence, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.
He was a coal miner and worked at Dotiki for 27 years. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Providence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wayne Wilson in 2009. 
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Melody Wilson; one son, Erik Wilson and his wife, Leanna of Madisonville;  his mother, Mary Wilson of Diamond; one brother, Timmy Wilson and his wife, Tina of Diamond; two granddaughters, Erin and Emily both of Madisonville; nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist with the Rev. Laddie Pride and the Rev. Johnnie Davis officiating.  
Burial was in Wilson Family Cemetery in Providence.
