Beatrice “Bea” Elliott, of Providence, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at her home. 
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Langstan, Sr. of Providence, Billy Langstan of Morgafield and Kenneth Langstan of Calhoun; three brothers, Jimmy Denton of Providence, Gene Denton and Walter Denton of Sebree; one sister, Norma Sue Odell of Henderson; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be no funeral service or visitation at Melton Funeral Home at this time, but a memorial service will be held later.

Alice Faye Liggett Rakestraw 68, of Slaughters, died Monday, January 27, 2014. 
She is survived by  her husband of 47 years Terry E. Rakestraw of Slaughters; one daughter Kimberly Ann Saalwaechter of Slaughters; one son, N. Alan Rakestraw DVM of Robards; two sisters, Ann Braden of Providence, and Shirley Tapp of Dixon; three brothers, Dorris Ray Liggett, David Liggett, Tommy Liggett  all of Dixon; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon with the Rev. Harry Baldwin and the Rev. Steve Dame officiating.  
Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Slaughters.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Helen Nolan Harris, of Madisonville, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. 
She is survived by seven children, Antonia Carter, Michael C. Harris, Marsha J. Morse, Elizabeth K. James and Jonathan D. Harris all of Madisonville, Mark S. Harris of Slaugters and Martha J. Heltsley of Chesterfield, MO; one brother, Clarence Nolan of Madison, IN; two sisters, Christine Nolan Vargas of Guzman, Mexico and Sue Nolan Twedell of Lima, Peru; seven grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home with Father Gerald Calhoun. officiating.  
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Mark Alan Zachary, 56, of Dixon, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2014 at the home of Linda Puckett in Dixon.
He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran having served 10 years of active duty, where he was a Master Gunner and a member of the VFW Post #5484 in Providence. He was a member of Liberty Praise Chapel Church in Providence.
He is the son of the late Aubrey H. and Hazel R. Zachary. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Zachary and Ronald Zachary.
He is survived by his girlfriend Linda Puckett; one daughter, Jennifer Zachary-Watts of Slaughters; one sister, Peggy Coomes of Madisonville; two brothers, Duane Zachary and Bryan Zachary both of Slaughters; two grandchildren, Devan Chandler and Zoe Watts; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Randall “Randy” Earl Hedges
Randall “Randy” Earl Hedges, 56, of Onton, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.
He was born May 29, 1957, in Daviess County to Randall Hedges and Joan Hedges. He is the older brother to Fran Floyd and husband, Mark, all of Sebree. He married Brenda Michelle Roberts on August 15, 1981.
He is the father of two sons, Michael Hedges and wife Jamie of Conway, SC and Daniel Hedges of Lexington. LaRue and Lane Hedges are his grandsons.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. His courage and strength will be forever in his family’s hearts, and he was an ordinary man who accomplished extraordinary things. He loved and is beloved by all.
Randy spend his career in law enforcement and retired as a Major for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. He was an avid outdoorsman, Jeep enthusiast and member of Central Baptist Church in Paris, where the family resided for many years.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. 
Burial will be in Clementsville Cemetery. 
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held in his hometown of Sebree Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Randy be honored through donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, Nightlight Christian Adoptions or a charity of choice.                       paid

She was born Oct. 12, 1928 in Providence to B.C. and Viva Hobgood Langley  who proceeds her in death.

She was a member of Rose Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Linda Bennett Galloway
Linda Bennett Galloway died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Linda was born August 8, 1917 in Dixon, KY, the daughter of the late Bonnie Fugate and Charles Wesley Bennett. She was a graduate of Stephens College, University of Illinois, University of Illinois Graduate Library School and Vanderbilt University. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Linda was a librarian at East Side Library in Evanville, IN. She left Evansville to serve as librarian with the Armed Forces at Camp Breckinridge, KY. She remained there until she went to France just before the end of World  War II to set up libraries for the Assembly Area Command. Linda then went to Germany with Patton’s 15th Army which was assigned the task of writing the history of WWII. She remained with USFET, Historical Division until 1946 when she returned to the states and married Ernest Agnew Galloway. 
She was an author of the book “Andrew Jackson, Jr., Son of a President.” She is listed in Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who of the South and Southwest, 2000 Women of Achievement and Personalities of the South. In Kentucky she was active with the Red Cross, the Webster County Library, the Webster County Schools, the Dixon Woman’s Club, the Garden Club and taught Sunday School for years.
Linda moved to Goldsboro in 1962 and lived at the Village of Walnut Creek. She was librarian with the Goldsboro Schools and Direrctor of Media Services for the Wayne County Schools until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the DAR, the Colonel Dames of the XVII Century, the Goldsboro Woman’s Club, Evergreen Garden Club, Walnut Creek Country Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and First Presbyterian Church. Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Galloway Reck and her husband, Daniel; two grandchildren, Amanda and Bennett.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol Pearson officiating. 
Burial was in Willow Dale  Cemetery.

Charles Henry Matthews, of Providence, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.
Bro. Charles, as he was lovingly known, professed a hope in Christ at a early age and united with Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Charles loved his church and devoted himself to service, always faithful in attendance Charles was very active in his church, regularly attending prayer meeting and bible study. He served as Sunday School teacher, Dorcus Circle instructor, Brotherhood, church custodian, member of the male chorus, Baptist Training Union instructor and as the superintendent of Sunday School for over 20 years.
Bro. Charles was a man of his word. If he told you something, you could count on him to keep his word. He love people and would often help those in need. He was active in his community at Christmas, Charles could be found assisting the Providence Ministerial Association in preparing and delivering baskets or families in need.
He leaves to cherish his memory his niece and caregiver, Tonia Morrow of Providence; nieces, Sharon Watson and her husband, Ted and Cynthia Matthews of all of Chicago, IL; nephew, Ulysses Morrow of Providence; great-nieces, Kenya Howard and Rashad White both of Chicago, IL, Annecia Morrow of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Ann Matthews of Chicago, IL and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Robert Curtis “Bob” Ashby, 86, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois McClarney Ashby; one son, Robert Allen Ashby of Sykesville, MD; one daughter, Mary Ashby Brown of Lexington; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Services will conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with Bro. Rob Whitacre and Bro. Bill Doyle officiating. 
Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dorris Owens, 78, of Dixon, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at his home.
He was a farmer and a member of Kindred Spirits Church in Morganfield. He was the son of the late David and Goldie Floyd Owens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Owens and three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two daughters, Sheila Thompson and her husband, Rick of Henderson and Peggy Posey and her husband, Curtis of Corydon; four sons, Jackie Owens and his wife, Judy, Vincent Owens and his wife, Carolyn, Ray Owens and his girlfriend, Karen Haynes all of Dixon and Wayne Owens and his wife, Tracey of Henderson; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon with Bro. Gerald Wilson officiating.

Anna Jewell Foster, 80, of Madisonville, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie Ashby of Madisonville; one son, Benny Foster of Sebree; five sisters, JoNell Stone and Shirley Suggs both of Sebree, Katherine Hook and Loretta Crowley both of Hanson and Barbara Hibbs of Madisonvile; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Carl Nelson officiating. 
Burial was in Onton Cemetery.

Sue Liggett Duncan, 74, of Dixon, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN.
She was a housewife and member of Little Zion General Baptist Church in Dixon. She was the daughter of the late T.D. “Buck” and Ruby Liggett. 
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Liggett.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bobbie G. Duncan; three sisters, Ann Braden of Providence, Faye Rakestraw of Slaughters and Shirley Tapp of Dixon; three brothers, Dorris, David and Tommy Liggett of Dixon; several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon with the Rev. Greg Duncan officiating. 
Burial was in Old Cedar Grove Cemetery in Tilden.

William E. Montgomery, 68, of Sebree, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Evelyn (Pike) Montgomery; nine children, William “Billy” Montgomery of Indianapolis, IN, Jerry Courtney of Oklahoma, Angela Lampton of Iowa, Janet Hanks of Mt. Vernon, IN, Beatrice Northcutt of Oklahoma, Wilma Harris of Madisonville, Vonda Calbreath and Tammy Knighton both of Madisonville and Camellia Harris of Sebree; one brother, Ronnie Montgomery of Tilden; one sister, Sue Trahan of Montegut, LA; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at Sebree General Baptist Church.  
Burial was in Springdale Cemetery where full military rites were performed by American Legion Post. #40.

Mary Elizabeth Burris, 94, of Hanson, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 at her home.
She is survived by one son, Robert Burris of Poole; two daughters, Kay Hawkins of Hanson and Joyce Carter of Saucier, MS; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-granchildren and three great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted at noon Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson with the Rev. Tom Branson officiating.

Bob Cummins, 76, of Madisonville died on Wednesday Jan. 1, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Providence and Providence Masonic Lodge #148, Rizpah Shrine Temple, Providence Chamber of Commerce, of which he was a past president and Providence Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Louise Cummins of Princeton and his two brothers, William Lewis Cummins and Ralph “Bud” Cummins.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Cummins; his children, Elizabeth Holloman and her husband, Jon of Madisonville, Brian Cummins and his wife, Jill of Providence, Kenny Gibson of Madisonville, Laura Canapa and her husband Carlos of Pensacola Beach, FL, Edward Gibson and his wife, Jennifer of Lexington and Emily Armstrong and her husband, Jon of Houston, TX; one sister, Evelyn Sitter Fletcher of Princeton; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 4, 2014 at Melton Funeral Home with Dr. Micheal Knight officiating.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.                            paid
