Wilma R. Parker
Wilma R. Parker, 81, of Sebree, found peace at 5:18AM Friday June 19, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Henderson while under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Wilma was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sebree Chapter #240. She dutifully served as the Worthy Matron for numerous terms, providing her strength and stability to its members when it was thought the chapter might close. Many chapter meeting were opened and closed under her direction as she quoted sayings from her friendship book of poems to her friends and guests. The chapter was able to carry on for many years under her watchful care. She helped the chapter celebrate its 75th anniversary in 1990, as the chairman of the anniversary committee and she was looking forward to her beloved chapter’s 100th anniversary celebration this year. Wilma was recognized with several notable honors. She was appointed as a Grand Representative from 2003-2005 and as Chairman of the Deputy Grand Matrons in 2011-2012 and she received the “Hands of Service” award for her many good works in 2012. But, her greatest accomplishments can be measured in the little things, her day-to-day small acts of service to her family and friends.
Wilma was a faithful member of Sebree First Christian Church. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Homemakers Club and the Webster County Homemakers Council. She was a member and secretary of the board of GRADD for several years and was an advocate and supporter for programs for our senior citizens. Wilma exemplified what it means to have a servant heart and joyful spirit, quietly and faithfully serving many organizations and groups with her sweet smile and patient diligence.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Parker.
She is survived by her children: Craig A. Parker and his wife Deanna of Nebo, Karen Parker Allinder and husband Tom of Henderson; grandchildren are Andrea Allinder Kirkpatrick and her husband Dr. David Kirkpatrick, Denton Parker and his wife Kellie, Elizabeth Allinder Dobso and her husband Justin, Dr. Matthew Allinder and his wife Emilie, Jessica Parker, Amber Hughes and Adam Parker and four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were conducted at 10:30 AM Monday, June 22, 2015 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with Bro. Bill Anderson and Bro. Paul Stone officiating.
Burial was in Springdale Cemetery.
Friends and relatives were invited to celebrate Wilma’s life on Sunday, June 21, 2015 from 1-5PM where The Order of the Eastern Star Service was conducted at 4 PM and Monday 9 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice for their generous care and comfort of our mother. paid
