Vernon Ray Whitledge, 84, of Clay died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Shemwell Nursing Home in Providence.
He was of baptist faith and was retired from Webster County Coal, Dotiki Mine in 1991. Throughout his coal mining career he also was a life long farmer.
He was preceded in death his wife of 58 years Louie Earl Whitledge, one son, Douglas Waide Whitledge, a daughter, Faith Elaine Owens, one granddaughter, Kymberli Dania McKeehan, one great-grandson, Conner Clark Whitledge, his parents Verris Vernon and Lillian Mae (Threlkeld) Whitledge.
He is survived two daughters, Mandy Spencer and her husband, Shane of Clay and Ann Hill and her husband, Joe Mack of Beaver Dam; two sons, Wayne Whitledge of Clay and Walter Whitledge and his wife, Marcia of Clay; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2013 at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay with Bro. Clifton Vandiver officiating.
Burial was in White Oak Cemetery in Clay.
