Julia Lee Hill Kingsbury of South Pasadena, CA, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at her home following a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer.
Always known as “Judy” to her Kentucky friends, she was born in Clay, KY on March 12, 1941 to Carl Jackson (Slim) Hill and Winnie Forrest (Jimmie) Hill. Julia was a member of Clay First Baptist Church and graduated from both Clay Elementary and Clay High Schools before moving to California.
In California, Julia attended and instructed at the John Robert Powers School of Modeling as well as working for Pacific Bell. She was a member of the Alhambra First Baptist Church. Her love of the law lead her to become the president of the San Gabriel Valley Legal Secretaries Association and a lengthy career as a Probate Assistant, the last 20 years spent associated with the law office of Paul J. Fukushima, Esq.
She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Bobby C. Hill and his wife, Debra Haun Hill and a sister, Jimmie Lou Wirwille.
Julia touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by her son, Duke Allen Kingsbury and his wife Tania; the light of her life, grandson, Parker Allen Kingbury; one sister, Edna Kaye Smith of Long Beach, CA; three nieces, Diane Alonso of Long Beach, CA, Gloria Isenhower of Lake Havasu, AZ and Carla Futrell of Cadiz; one nephew, Steve Hill of Clay; one brother-in-law, Donald V. Wirwille of Hemet, CA.
A celebration of Julia’s life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013 at General Baptist Church in Clay.
Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Clay.
